Monk Metal Windows are a well-established manufacturer of purpose made W20, W30, W40 and cold-formed steel windows and doors with over 50 years experience in the design, fabrication and installation of fenestrations for the construction industry. Monk is registered with BSI as a firm of assessed capability in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 and carries out a varied mixture of work, which can range from new builds to commercial heritage work. It has carried out substantial work on education establishments, mill conversions and security work such as young offenders institutes and HM Prisons. Operating from a 30,000sq ft factory which houses the most up to date frame making equipment, Monk offer a complete window package of manufacture, installation and glazing together with the additional service of removing existing windows, site measuring and CAD drawing facilities. They offer the flexibility and response of a small specialist firm and give their customers single source responsibility throughout a project.

This substantial investment enables Monk to offer a unique one-stop shop service to its customers, where even the most complicated bespoke designs can be made to a customer’s requirements. “We replicated the original windows on the Ovaltine Building, which were extremely large and therefore challenging to manufacture. However, we met this challenge by working closely with the Architect as well as employing a structural engineer to ensure all the design loads were met. All openings were site measured with laser measuring equipment, and drawings accurately produced for the clients design team using CAD” highlights Neil Holding, Managing Director.

“While we are big enough to work on large projects we are also small enough to provide a high standard of service to our customers. We allocate a small team to each project which they see through from start to finish, so that when our customers phone they have a single point of contact.” Monk also places a strong emphasis on health and safety, using a consultancy agency that regularly audits the team and provides them with any necessary training.

The continuous investment in both its people and facilities has allowed Monk to offer a full manufacturing service that can not only design and supply windows, but also fix and glaze its own products and has helped transform the famous Ovaltine building into a successful residential development.
